MODULE 1: PURPOSE

Foundation + The 3T Framework

We'll level set what you're here to learn and prep your mindset. We'll lay out the "3T FRAMEWORK" of the course, expectations, and start building your mental performance coaching skill set. 

In MODULE 1, you’re going to learn:

  • Why These Skills & Why Now: What difference do mental performance skills make, especially for today's student-athlete, in a chronically distracted world in constant pursuit of external validation?
  • Terminology & Interplay of Skills: There's a lot of terminology thrown around on social media and in the news about the mental game. What's the same? What's not? And how do these skills overlap with and compound each other?
  • Elite Mindset = Growth Mindset: A student-athlete doesn't have to be elite in talent level to develop an elite mindset. We'll look at how to meet each student-athlete where THEY are to maximize their potential.
  • Motivation & Commitment: No one feels like doing the work all the time, especially student-athletes. So what's the difference between motivation and commitment and how are they connected?
  • Simplicity & Consistency: Mental performance skills are simple in concept. It's the consistent application that's challenging. How do we use this to our advantage?
  • The 3T Framework: The remaining modules will follow the 3T Framework, including a TOOL, TOPIC(S), and TACTIC for you to implement with your team. You'll be able to utilize this simple, clear structure to incorporate mental game training into your practices and program.
MODULE 2: PRESENCE

Tuning Into Self & Success

In order to learn mental performance skills, we have to get inside our own heads without overthinking. We need to be present and observe what's going on with our mindset so we can see what needs work to move us toward where we want to be.

In MODULE 2, you’re going to learn:

  • TOOL - Self-Talk:  Most people, especially student-athletes, are unaware of their own internal monologue, low-key running in the background of our brains all the time. You'll learn how to make it work FOR you and your student-athletes.
  • TOPIC - Awareness & Energy: Awareness is the first step  in any change or development. And what energy are you bringing to the process? It's critical that we, as coaches, bring positive energy to learning these skills to enable our student-athletes to do the same.
  • TACTIC - Personal Script: We'll talk about how to write your own story. The one you want for yourself. The one your student-athletes want for themselves and the team, which may differ significantly from the internal monologue they were previously allowing to hold them back
MODULE 3: PATIENCE

Controlling Internal Tempo

Elite teams are often very good at slowing down the game. Patience is key. In order to do that, you have to be able to slow things down for yourself, in your mind, whether you're competing on a team or as an individual competitor.

In MODULE 3, you’re going to learn:

  • TOOL - Breath: Elite performers from athletes to U.S. Navy Seals rely on their breath to help them stay calm. We'll explore it's benefits and the ease of incorporating it as a powerful practice.
  • TOPIC - Getting & Staying Focused: It can be hard to get and hold our student-athletes' attention. We'll explore ways to effectively engage them and help them stay on task to practice how they want to play and the discipline required for progress.
  • TACTIC - Signal Lights: Student-athletes usually begin competition in a positive state, ready to go. When things don't go according to plan, it's important to notice as soon as possible. You'll learn a powerful tool for helping your student-athletes see the signs within themselves.
MODULE 4: PERSEVERANCE

Maintaining Composure

Keeping our cool can be a challenge for all of us at any age, especially teen student-athletes. You'll complete this module with a new tool and strategy for holding it together and confident you can coach your players to do the same.

In MODULE 4, you’re going to learn:

  • TOOL - Subliminal Scribing: Tapping into our subconscious through prompted and free writing can help us rewire our thoughts around handling the pressure of competition and other performance related issues.
  • TOPIC - Managing Emotions: Student-athletes and coaches are passionate about sports and competition. In the heat of it, losing a grip on our behavior in response to our feelings can happen rapidly. Coping skills can be trained.
  • TACTIC - Release Routine: Resetting after a bad play, call, or performance can be challenging. You'll learn how to coach your student-athletes on this go-to strategy for moving past mistakes and adverse circumstances.
MODULE 5: PERSPECTIVE

Seeing is Believing 

Our minds are incredibly powerful, which is why you're here! We'll work on seeing ourselves succeeding, adapting, overcoming adversity, and learn how to build it into what we do and who we are. 

In MODULE 5, you’re going to learn:

  • TOOL - Visualization: Your brain doesn't know the difference between real and imagined. We'll leverage that for success.
  • TOPIC - Self-Belief & Confidence: One comes before the other and both often seem to be in short supply with our student-athletes. We'll work on ways to build them.
  • TACTIC - Highlight Reel: We are each the sum total of our experiences which we build into this powerful tactic for getting game ready.
MODULE 6: PARTNERSHIP

How Connection Fuels Performance

One thing every student-athlete, coach, and person can be the best at is being ourselves. When you're good with you, your mind is free to focus on competition and not afraid to fail. Basically, do you to be your best.

  • SUPER TOOL - Connection: When your student-athletes trust that you care about them as individuals, that you're invested in them, they become more invested in the team.
  • TOPIC - How to Separate Identity From Performance: This is important for everyone. You are more than your performance. Helping our student-athletes understand this principle is literally a game-changer.
  • TACTIC - Pre-Game & Post-Game Routines: Getting ready for games is done as a team, but will be unique in each student-athlete's mind. Helping them each develop their optimal pre-game hype level and post-game practices is key to building mental toughness for competition.

I'm Holly aka Coach Stofa.

I'm a former senior CIA operative and leadership coach. I'm also long-time high school coach myself and a mindset and mental performance coach. I developed this program to help other coaches learn and coach mental performance skills to their teen student-athletes.

I've been a high school coach for 19 seasons. I'm also a mom of three teen athletes including two collegiate athletes and one still in middle school. I'm a former collegiate athlete myself as is my husband. Athletics and a growth mindset are the lifeblood of our family.
